The USGBC announced this week they would be delaying voting on the new LEED version in response to membership and stakeholder comments. They have also decided to re-name from LEED 2012 to LEED v4 so that the program is not tied to a particular year. We appreciate that this was a hard decision for the USGBC to make, but think this is the only reasonable action to make. There are enough changes happening and the economy/market readiness made rushing into a new version a risky move. USGBC did the right thing. There will be a Fifth Comment Draft and final voting will not happen until June 1, 2013 to allow for the consensus-driven process to work properly.

Dut to the large number of comments made on the Third Draft of LEED 2012, the USGBC announced this week they would be opening a fourth draft comment period from May 1-15. We encourage everyone who may use LEED 2012 to review all the changes and make comments. Go to the USGBC website to find out more about the draft, voting period and opt-in period for national members.
