LEED Pilot Credit Library |

The US Green Building Council recently announced the new LEED Pilot Credit Library of 11 credits. The Pilot Credits can be applied to any rating system for active LEED projects, and they can be submitted as an Innovation in Design credit. The USGBC will award credits that provide valuable feedback on the Pilot credit being considered. Projects need to register if they want to test a Pilot Credit. Now and again we get some good news about reversing environmental damage. This week scientists with the Vienna Convention for the Protection of the Ozone Layer and the Montreal Protocol report that the ozone 'hole' is recovering, and more quickly than expected. The report confirms that the ozone layer is no longer depleting and should regain its density by 2048. This appears to be a direct result of the global agreement through the Montreal Protocol to phase out the use of chlorofluorocarbons and other ozone-depleting compounds.

Importance of Specfications |

On any high performance project, especially those pursuing LEED or other green building rating systems, it's important to do a thorough review of the specifications to make sure those green goals are fully realized. We recently reviewed our longest spec ever... 2,835 pages for an Air Force Fitness Center! Whew!
